About the event
A gelli plate, hectograph, or jellygraph is the key to a printmaking process dating back to the 1800’s. The first gelli plate, or hectograph involved the transfer of an original work of art, prepared with special inks, to a pan of gelatin or a gelatin pad pulled tight on a metal frame. Joan Bess simplified the process when she founded the Gelli Arts company by using a manmade polymer plate that mimicked gelatin but was more durable.
In this class that is open to ALL AGES, we will be exploring the intricacies to gelli printing. The class is only 2 hours long and Max at 15 people.
For students who have taken these classes before, this will be an enjoyable refresher into the world of printmaking. And for those who are new to the world, these classes will be a wonderful introduction to a new and addicting form of art.
